MurderI Is Just Incidental
It's a dull dreary day and raining hard as I write this. Looking for a nice mystery to while away the afternoon. This isn't it. The second of three films in a short series from 20th Century Fox's B unit in 1938 tries to be a laugh a minute but fails miserably. Michal Whelan stars as a newspaper reporter with Chick Chandler as his ace cameraman in what is supposed to be a romp of sorts but isn't. A ton of great featured players are in this such as William Demarest, Harold Huber, and many others but it just fails on all levels. Michael Whelan was a top "B" player at Fox through the end of his contract in 1942.
We remember him from the TV shows of the 1950's where as a more mature, character actor he made a decent living in various TV shows from "The Lone Ranger" to "Sea Hunt" and just about everything in between. Skip this film unless you are really desperate for entertainment.
Side Note: Chick Chandler who started in juvenile roles in early files and had a somewhat checkered career in films over the next several years co-starred with John Russell in the mid-50's TV show "Soldier Of Fortune" for Revue Productions to great success as Tubo Smith.
MPG4 is good as is the sound.
